Tooting My Own Birthday Horn!

It has been a bit crazy around here this week. Not only was I recovering from having my gall bladder removed, but the kids went back to school too. And today is my 40th birthday! I feel really proud of my age and am planning on enjoying every minute of it!

I know 40 is supposed to be this big unwelcome number. Over the hill and such... But I feel like I'm still in my 20's. My body has aged and my mind has matured (maybe) but I still feel young. I have gotten more gray hairs and some lovely crinkles to my face. I have also gained more confidence in myself as a woman, a wife, and a mother.

Today my parent's are coming into town and taking me out to lunch. I'm feeling Vietnamese.... I also will be visiting a Costco with my Mom. I don't have a membership so I feel like a little kid when I go to one of them. I am hoping on some low fat but yummy options. I really like these:

Tonight I expect a "fancy" meal from my family with some yummy cake! So blogworld, I am celebrating today, for myself and all the other fabulous forty year olds!

What a busy few days it's been! I have had a bit of extra stress on me and that has made my anxiety act up and that's just so much fun to battle. Tomorrow is my 2nd oldest spawn's last day of school the others are pretty much done on Thursday. My baby girl had her 9th birthday yesterday:


She's growing up so fast! After Thursday she will be my last kid in elementary school...

I have also been working on teacher's gifts. So far my best is a cute little embroidered sun glass case:


Hopefully things will calm down or at least could hopefully be slightly less stressful. Luckily I was able to hang out with my BFFs this past weekend and that always recharges me

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!!

In case you didn't know today is one of my favorite authors' birthday, Dr. Seuss!! I loved his books as a kid and still do and have passed that love down to my own kids. Today at my daughter's school they celebrated by letting the kids dress up as Dr. Seuss characters. My daughters' choice:

Birthday Wishes

Today my old man turns another year older, but he's still 11 months younger than me! We met 18+ years ago. We moved incredibly quickly, marrying a year after we met. We've had ups and downs like everyone. But he's still here by my side. This past year has been really hard on him, he lost his Mom in February. He's still working through that. But he is surrounded by the love of our wacky family. So today on his 38th birthday we celebrate his life! Happy Birthday Honey!

I was busy 8 years ago today

Busy having a baby that is! My youngest spawn was born around 2 a.m. eight years ago today. She is my baby of babies. She's the last of my offspring. She keeps me smiling and spoiling her way too much! She is strong, smart, artistic, and generally amazing. I can't wait to continue watching her grow up. Happy birthday to my baby girl!

Sorry, I have been missing...
It's been a hell of a time lately. I did my first official craft fair and discovered what kind of people do not buy my stuff. Apparently born-agains do not like my stuff. It was a terrible experience. But I will persist and try again!
It's also the end of the school year so I have been crazy with field day, field trips, and other school related craziness. Friday is the last day and then the insanity of summer starts, Yeah!
While working at my daughter's field day yesterday I managed to get a pretty bad sunburn, on my neck. Yep I am a "redneck", seriously. Thankfully my aloe plant had enough leaves to slather on the juice and it has been a lifesaver!
The hubbs has been on call this week and has been called out a ton. Nice for the overtime, but sucks because he's gone so much. Thankfully he goes off call on Thursday.
Speaking of Thursday, it's my baby girl's birthday! Yep, the baby will be 6 years old! I can't believe it's been so long since I had a baby! You see for so long I was always pregnant or nursing. And no, there is no new babe coming along, my womb is closed for business.
