The Great Outdoors, sort of

It's a bit overcast today but I thought I'd share some of my crafting of my front yard area. I recently made these adorable boot planters:

I used an old pair of my kids boots that I have been saving for a while. You could also get a cute pair at the thrift store. I used an awl to poke holes in the bottom for drainage. Then I put gravel rocks in to just over halfway full. Then dirt and plants, these are lemon balm. You could use colorful plants or ivy, whatever you'd like!

I think they are super cute and easy to make!
In addition I thought I'd show off my lavender plants, they have grown so much!

In the above picture you can also see my birdbath made out of an old satellite dish. No birds have ever used it but it is pretty to look at!

  1. Love the idea of turning an old dish into a bird bath. I think there might be one in mom's basement, but at her house it'd be more of a cat feeder than a bird bath. ;)

  2. When we moved into this house almost four years ago the previous owners had left this dish and I knew something had to be done with it! So after painting and a lot of laquer it was done!
